[On Demand] 2016 Summer Movie Preview & Underrated 90s Cinema (EP 29)

In the spirit of this summer’s movie slate, Drew and Badway roll out another sequel to The Last Row’s On Demand series. The guys break down the Summer Blockbusters set for release (spoiler alert: superheroes and sequels dominate), giving their quick takes on Captain America: Civil War, TMNT2, X-Men #412, Independence Day Not Starring Will Smith, The Purge 56, Now You See Me 2 (this one’s not a joke, they really made a 2nd one), a few “Space Movies” and much more. Other topics include: The new Star Wars Rogue One trailer, Badway’s love of MTV’s The Real World (yes he’s over 30, sad), favorite underappreciated 90s flicks, and a rousing game of “Jack Black Was In That???”

Butt-Punishing 4DX, Hardcore Henry, & Steven Seagal (EP 28)

This week on an “anything goes” On Demand version of The Last Row Podcast, Drew and Badway ponder the pros and cons of a movie theater that will make you pay extra to punch you in the butt while you watch, preview the release of “Hardcore Henry” (whose title sounds like a porno director), and read a listener email involving Nicolas Cage and Steven Seagal. Within these topics, other points of interest include: movie theaters in furniture stores, why assigned seating in theaters is a terrible idea, the possible revival of the XXX theater, gimmick filmmaking, Steven Seagal’s uniqueness, and a phonetics lesson on the name Shawn/Shaun/Sean.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (EP 27)

This week on The Last Row Podcast, Drew and Badway go straight from the theater and into the studio to bring you their hater-free thoughts on the critically maligned and box office approved epic, Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice. In this two-part episode, the guys open by talking about the hype leading up to the release, react to the critical beating the movie took, question Zack Snyder’s reputation, and renounce their unofficial partnership with the Rotten Tomatoes scoring system. The second half (spoilers included) breaks down the host’s likes/dislikes of the film, thoughts on the Justice League tie-ins, and ponder the future of the franchise.

*If you haven’t seen the film yet, potential spoilers start at the 29:25 mark*

D2: The Mighty Ducks (EP 26)

This week on The Last Row Podcast, Drew and Badway analyze the sequel that launched thousands of Knuckle-Pucks across America, D2: The MIghty Ducks. However, the story isn’t as clear as you may have remembered it from twenty plus years ago. Was Gordon Bombay really a great coach, or even a good one? Were any of the Ducks worthy of a spot on team USA? Was Wolf “The Dentist” Stansson more villainous than Hawk’s Coach Riley, or was the Icelandic Crusher merely misunderstood? All of theses questions, and more, are answered in full detail. Other topics include: the possible success of the “Air Bombay,” phony apologies to children, rollerblading, Team USA goonage, Bombay’s improbable stint in the minors, and a quick look at what the cast was up to post-Ducks.

Drew and Badway reboot another episode of The Last Row: On Demand with a quick discussion on the new Ghostbusters trailer, which leads into the unveiling of their proposed Rules for Rebooting Movie Franchises. This set of four rules will finally bring an end to lazy, unwanted, and unnecessary franchise reboots. The guys also discuss sequels vs. reboots, pitch a ridiculous Home Alone re-imagining, and chat about the art of method acting, ending with a “True or False” game of insane Daniel Day-Lewis stories.
